With the aim of putting the patient at the heart of the design, JKMM has created the Hospital Nova in Jyväskylä, following a new model for a healthcare environment and a new floor plan. A large atrium is the landing point for emergencies and provides access to all the various departments. Meanwhile, the in-patient wards are inspired by the concept of a hotel.

K-Kampus by JKMM, sustainable offices in Helsinki
The Finnish firm, JKMM Architects recently completed K-Kampus, the Kesko headquarters in Helsinki. The architecture occupies a whole city block in the Kalasatama district and serves as a base for some 1800 employees. The building has been granted Green Office environmental certification and an application for BREEAM certification is pending.

JKMM: Amos Rex, a new underground museum in Helsinki
JKMM takes a radical approach to the expansion of the Amos Anderson Art Museum in central Helsinki. JKMM has dug out the space for the new Amos Rex museum underneath the square behind the Lasipalatsi, a Modernist pavilion built in 1936, now rediscovered and renovated as part of the Amos Rex project.

Helsinki has been blessed with a new architectural and art attraction, the Amos Rex art museum - designed by JKMM - right in the heart of Finland's capital, simultaneously refurbishing an iconic 1930s building called Lasipalatsi as an integral part of the museum.

JKMM Architects: municipal library in Seinäjoki, Finland
Within the context of the Seinäjoki civic centre, designed by Alvar Aalto, JKMM Architects conceived the new library, integrating the functions of the great Finnish architect’s work. The new building – composed of three connecting volumes – is simple and adopts a contemporary approach, and sustainability is also considered in the materials selected.
