The thirteenth edition of the awards promoted by the Design Museum in London began on October 21, 2020. David Adjaye wins the 2021 RIBA Royal Gold Medal

Architect David Adjaye was awarded the 2021 Royal Gold Medal, the highest British award given to a person or group of people who have had a significant influence “either directly or indirectly on the advancement of architecture”. The commission for the 2021 Royal Gold Medal included, among others, architects Dorte Mandrup and Shelley McNamara, winner of the 2020 Royal Gold Medal together with Yvonne Farrell.

Balkrishna Doshi Architecture for the People exhibition - Architekturzentrum Wien

Vienna’s Architekturzentrum is one of the first cultural centres to reopen following the lockdown imposed by authorities to contain the covid19 pandemic. Architekturzentrum Wien picks up right where it left off, with the opening of the exhibition "Balkrishna Doshi - Architecture for the People", initially planned for the end of March, which never opened because of the pandemic. The exhibition focuses on the work of Balkrishna Doshi, who became the first Indian architect to receive the Pritzker Prize in 2018 and is one of the most important figures in Indian Modernism.

Goodbye to Yona Friedman, with his Mobile Architecture and feasible utopias

Architect Yona Friedman died on 20 February 2020 at the age of 96. The news was announced in an Instagram post on the account of Fonds de Dotation Denise and Yona Friedman. The architect’s most recent works included the landscape installation No Man's land, created in Abruzzo with artist Jean-Baptiste Decavèle in 2016, and the Summer House for the 2016 Architecture Programme at the Serpentine Galleries.
