Anders Lonka - ADEPT
Anders Lonka, one of the three founder partners of ADEPT, a young Copenhagen-based firm with office also in Hamburg, is the guest of this new appointment. After a rich, extensive work experience at MVRDV, Diller Scofidio+ Renfro, New York and Cebra, he taught for several years at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture and from 2006 he dedicates himself, with his young multidisciplinary team, to an architecture focused on developing a real interaction with the city, as a large community, synthesised in the concept ‘place over building’.

ADEPT’s CLT building for the Wandsbek district in Hamburg
Danish architectural studio ADEPT won the design competition for construction of a large public building with a total surface area of 34,000 sqm in the Wandsbek district of Hamburg, Germany, due to be completed in 2026. The building will be one of Germany’s largest CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) constructions, offering a concrete example as a pilot project using wood as the ideal material for sustainable buildings.

ADEPT and the Braunstein Taphouse, architecture designed for disassembly
Copenhagen-based studio ADEPT has designed a new taphouse for the Braunstein microbrewery in the harbour of Koege, Denmark. Since it stands on what may well be a temporary site, the architecture was designed as an easily demountable project that could easily be moved somewhere else.

Copenhagen appointed 2023 UNESCO World Capital of Architecture
On May 5, UNESCO and the International Union of Architects (UIA) announced that they had chosen Copenhagen to be 2023 World Capital of Architecture. The Danish capital will be the world’s second city to hold the title, after Rio de Janeiro in 2020. At the same time as events celebrating its status as world capital of architecture, Copenhagen will be hosting the World Architects’ Congress, an event held by the UIA every three years.

ADEPT at Carlsberg City, Copenhagen
The Danish architecture studio, ADEPT has helped to transform the Carlsberg City district in Copenhagen. They worked their magic on Theodora House, a contemporary, mixed-use building complex that is part new construction and part reuse and all with the typical brick of this historic district.
