Since Michele De Lucchi’s Adjara Towers, the focus of the first exhibition inaugurating SpazioFMGperl'Architettura in 2007, more than 50 events, including exhibitions, talks and conferences, have been held in Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti’s gallery and showroom at Via Bergognone 27, Milan.
The work of numerous well-known professionals and emerging young architects from Italy and all over the world has been showcased over the gallery’s 10 years of history, including Stefano Boeri, Mario Botta, David Chipperfield, Herzog & de Meuron, Bernard Khoury, Land, Francesco Librizzi, Piuarch, Benedetta Tagliabue, Tamassociati and Nanda Vigo... to mention only a few.
The exhibition “REVERSE SHOT: Italian architects put a face to their names”, includes more than 200 faces in a big group portrait covering both main walls of SpazioFMG, serving as the backdrop for meetings and round tables focusing on themes of relevance in Italian architecture today.
In the middle of the gallery is a nine-metre-long table made out of FMG MaxFine slabs only 6 mm thick. This special surface will be covered with books selected by the architects, one beloved book for each architect present in the group portrait. The books will form a second landscape, made up of words and thoughts contributing to the formation of future architects and designers, because at the end of the exhibition SpazioFMG will donate all the volumes to the library of the faculty of architecture at an Italian university.
