Michele De Lucchi and Davide Angeli for The Architects Series - A documentary on: AMDL CIRCLE
At 18:30 on July 8 the 17th episode in The Architects Series, the event format created by The Plan magazine for the Iris Ceramica Group taking the audience backstage in the most prominent architectural studios, will be streamed live from the Iris Ceramica Group’s showroom in Milan, connected with the Group’s London and Berlin flagship stores. The event, entitled "The Architects Series - A documentary on: AMDL CIRCLE", will feature Michele De Lucchi and Davide Angeli, founders of AMDL CIRCLE.
According to the now-familiar formula, the event will begin with a screening of the documentary film presented by The Plan magazine and filmed directly in AMDL’s offices showing the people who work with the studio and where and how they work, illustrating projects currently under way. The screening will be followed by a lecture on “Inspiring Creativity” in which Michele De Lucchi and Davide Angeli look back over the career of the famous Italian architect and the studio he founded, which changed its name to AMDL CIRCLE in 2019. A number of special guests will also participate in the conference. To attend the webinar, register for the Iris Ceramica Group’s digital platform; attendance earns architects two professional training credits.
Architect, designer and artist Michele De Lucchi graduated with a degree in architecture in Florence in 1975 and soon came into contact with a number of prominent figures in avant-garde architecture and design of the late '70s. He joined the Memphis Group founded by Ettore Sottsass and designed items of furniture for prominent Italian and European companies, including Artemide’s Tolomeo lamp, winner of the 1989 Compasso d'oro award. He and his studio founded in 1980 designed iconic buildings such as Pavilion Zero for Expo Milano 2015. At the 17th International Architecture Exhibition curated by architect Hashim Sarkis for Biennale di Venezia, Michele de Lucchi and his studio AMDL CIRCLE present Education Stations in the Venice Pavilion, a project focusing on spaces for education and learning. The studio presents five buildings corresponding to stages in an individual’s growth, from infancy to adulthood, inspired by reflection on the educational role of built space and the psychological impact of the environment: an issue linked with the studio’s evolution, using the idea of the circle to pass on a heritage of experience and culture and continue the process of growth and development in the world of architecture.
