SPAZIOFMGPERL’ARCHITETTURA, the Milan gallery of Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti, presents the designs for redevelopment of the building at number 6-8 via Melchiorre Gioia, designed by Marco Zanuso and Pietro Crescini in the late '60s.

The exhibition on until 29th March atSPAZIOFMGPERL’ARCHITETTURA, the Milan gallery of Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti, presents the projects created for the competition to redevelop the building at number 6-8 via Melchiorre Gioia, designed by Marco Zanuso and Pietro Crescini in the late '60s.

This design competition open only to invited participants was launched in March 2012, by Hines Italia SGR S.p.A, and saw the participation of architecture studios such as LissoniAssociati, OBR Open Building Research, Park Associati and StudioElementare.

The winners werePark Associati whose project is now in the construction site set up phase. Managing director of Hines Italia, Manfredi Catella, underlines its ability to combine the themes of sustainability with the conservation and reuse of the internal spaces and the façade, which were the main focuses of the competition.
Luca Molinari, curator of the exhibition and scientific director of SPAZIOFMGPERL’ARCHITETTURA, stresses that the project to redevelop the Gioiaotto building is part of a wider theme and represents, in synthesis "the overall transformation of Porta Nuova, designed and created as part of the concept of sustainability on a broad scale[...] on the basis of a wider vision and greater awareness […] of the urban and cultural context of the area as a whole”.
