The first exhibition of Foster + Partners’ work to be held in China is coming up at SPSI, the Shanghai Oil Painting and Sculpture Institute, July 25 through August 25, 2012.

Foster + Partners, The Art of Architecture exhibition, Shanghai
The exhibition will allow visitors to view original drawings and models made for some of the most important projects by Foster + Partners, including Beijing international airport and the Millau viaduct in France. It will also offer an opportunity to unveil a number of projects under construction in China, such as the Citic Bank building in Hangshou, the new Nanjing tower or plans for Shanghai.

Architectures for different functions and countries, on different scales, will be presented divided by theme: infrastructures, sustainability, skyscrapers, urban planning projects, history and culture, in a trip through time to discover the modus operandi of this important architectural practice through the 227 projects on exhibit, starting with projects dated 1967: the year of the studio’s foundation as Foster Associates. Visitors will discover how an architectural practice really works, from the initial meeting with the customer to the subsequent stages in planning and constructing the building.
