urbEXPO 2015 Lost Places, Beauty of Decay and Architecture

The 2015 edition of the urbEXPO photo exhibition - Lost Places, Beauty of Decay and Architecture - from 31 July to 30 August 2015 in the offices of the former Schlegel brewery in Bochum.



Livegreenblog was very privileged to be able to venture into the spaces of the former Schlegel brewery, built in 1930 in the centre of the city of Bochum, and now hosting the fourth urbEXPO photo exhibition - Lost Places, Beauty of Decay and Architecture.





Photographer and multimedia artist Olaf Rauch developed the idea for this group exhibition in 2012, to explore endlessly evolving urban spaces, not least of which involves the abandonment of so many buildings caused by economic and social change, from an artistic point of view rather than pointing the social finger. This year's exhibition is in a new venue in the urban geography of Bochum.





Sticking to the theme of the urbEXPO title, the rooms of the Schlegel brewery, opened to host the exhibition, are spaces recovered from a building constructed as the administrative offices of the Schlegel brewery in the 1930s, badly damaged in World War II and now converted for new uses.





The vernissage with the attendance of the 21 photographers on exhibition will take place at 8 pm on 31 July in Christuskirche Bochum, located in front of the exhibition areas. Unlike prior years, this exhibition will last for one month, and will be accompanied by side events including a concert and performances. Like in 2013, in addition to the main exhibition, an extraordinary exhibition will display images by the winners of the European architecture photography award spanning the years from 1995 to 2013.
