Hage, a green and social space for a neighbourhood in the making in Lund
Designed by Norwegian architects Brendeland & Kristoffersen, in collaboration with engineers Price and Myers, the Hage garden in the Swedish city of Lund consists of a canopy, a seating area and a brick wall. It answers the question of how to build a new community, starting with social space. Above all, it is among the five finalists in the 11th European Prize for Urban Public Space.

The recovery of Catharijnesingel in Utrecht by OKRA Landschapsarchitecten
In Utrecht, the Netherlands, the rehabilitation of the Catharijnesingel, a work by studio OKRA Landschapsarchitecten, is among the five finalists for the prestigious European Prize for Urban Public Space edition 2022. The result is the reopening of a canal with multiple benefits for citizens, ranging from microclimate to biodiversity to urban resilience.

FLOW, a temporary public swimming pool in Brussels
FLOW is a temporary, free public swimming pool, a project by Jozef Wouters' Decoratelier studio for the Pool is cool association, designed and built with the participation of fifty young people. In addition to being the first outdoor pool built in Brussels in forty years, it is a good example of how everyone can participate in the creation of a beautiful and fun public space.

Place Saint Sernin, reorganisation of public space in Toulouse
In Toulouse, the Place Saint Sernin reorganisation project by Barcelona-based BAU brings public space back into the historic centre of the French city. This intervention, begun in 2015 and completed in 2020, where cars give way to trees and benches, is among the finalists for the European Prize for Public Space 2022.

Sporta pils dārzi in Riga, European Prize for Urban Public Space finalist
The "Sporta pils dārzi" urban community garden in Riga, Latvia, created by Artilērijas dārzi, is the result of a community initiative to recover an abandoned lot and presents itself as a new type of public space. Here, a combination of productive, cultural and social logics, as well as nature, are integrated into a shared urban place. The project is one of the five finalists of the 2022 European Prize for Urban Public Space.

One Green Mile by MVRDV with StudioPOD in Mumbai, India
The Dutch architecture firm MVRDV, in collaboration with the urban planners from StudioPOD, has transformed a first section of what is one of the classic non-urban places, in this specific case Mumbai’s Senapati Bapat Marg flyover. Thanks to the architectural intervention carried out, One Green Mile has created a public space for the entire local community, adding much needed services and greenery.
