Alvaro Siza exhibitions and the 150th anniversary of Politecnico di Milano

“Alvaro Siza. Disegni e maquettes”, “Ritratti di Matosinhos” e “D’Affezione 1977-2012. Siza al lavoro” (“Alvaro Siza: Drawings and models”, “Portraits of Matosinhos” and “Of Affection 1977-2012: Siza at work”) are three exhibitions focusing on the work of Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza and his work. Three initiatives included in the packed calendar of events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of Politecnico di Milano, the technical institute in Milan.

Alvaro Siza. Disegni e maquettes (“Alvaro Siza: Drawings and models”) is an exhibition of photographs and models put together by curator Maddalena d’Alfonso to represent five of Alvaro Siza’s best-known projects: the swimming pools in Leça de Palmeira, the Bouça residences in Porto, the reconstruction of the Chiado in Lisbon, the Contemporary Art Centre in Santiago de Compostela and the Casa della Musica in Lecce.

The second exhibition compares Gabriele Basilico’s photographs with Alvaro Siza’s drawings in Portraits of Matosinhos. And Rogers Hall at Politecnico di Milano hosts the installation "D’Affezione 1977-2012. Siza al lavoro" (“Of Affection 1977-2012: Siza at work&rdquo) in which Roberto Collovà’s photographs document the prominent Portuguese architect’s life since 1977.
