Wortmann Architects, Hotel Picasso Barcelona

The hotel stands in the Born district just a few metres from Cuitadella Parc, along Picasso Avenue. The exterior of the hotel is determined by the strict architectural scheme of the Avenue, established in 1872 by architect Josep Fontseré i Mestres, which regulates the height and morphology of the buildings to clear a pedestrian arcade. The composition of the interior areas blends with the noble and strict appearance of the exterior.

According to architect Johannes Wortmann the overriding goal of the design team was to merge the building into the historic urbanization of Picasso Avenue and Ciutadella Parc becoming part of a pattern established in the nineteenth century.
