Wood Works 2022: what can we learn from trees?

“There is a forest in my backyard but my house is built from trees grown far away”. This is the title chosen by the Estonian curators, b210 Architects, and the Irish curators, Alder Architects, of the travelling exhibition entitled Wood Works, paying tribute to the "secret life" of timber in architecture, promoted by the Estonian Association of Architects, the Estonian Centre for Architecture and the Irish Architecture Foundation. The exhibition is currently at the Solstice Arts Centre in Navan (Ireland), and will be at the Tallinn Architecture Biennale in September.

Wittman Estes, transformation of an apartment in Seattle

The US architecture firm Wittman Estes has designed the transformation of an apartment inside Lakeside West, a condominium complex originally built in 1961 by John Graham, who at the time had already created his iconic Seattle Space Needle. First Tech Federal Credit Union's new corporate office building in Hillsboro, Oregon, designed by Hacker Architects, blurs the line between inside and outside and connects people with nature. As one of the largest examples of a CLT construction in the United States, the building is LEED Gold certified, as well as compliant with the 2030 Challenge standard.
