The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat recently announced the annual Best Tall Building Award of Excellence Winners in a number of categories. Dumican Mosey’s SOMA Residence

Internationally exhibited artist Klari Reis appointed Californian architectural studio Dumican Mosey to design her own home, with an annexed studio and art gallery. As the name suggests, the restoration and refurbishment project is located in San Francisco’s rapidly growing SOMA district. When the architects first went to inspect the two-storey building, a former auto repair garage, it was "dark, rundown and pungent with grease"; now the SOMA Residence is a jewel set in among the façades of the neighbourhood, right next to the famous Financial District.
