Rafael Moneo awarded Golden Lion for Lifelong Achievement at the Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2021
The Board of Directors of La Biennale di Venezia welcomed the proposal made by architect Hashim Sarkis, curator of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition, to award a Golden Lion for Lifelong Achievement to Rafael Moneo.

It was announced on March 1 that the 2017 Pritzker Prize, the Nobel Prize of architecture, will go to Spanish architects Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramón Vilalta, founders of RCR Arquitectes.

Eduardo Souto de Moura Piranesi Prix de Rome for Lifetime Achievement
On November 22, 2016 it was announced that the prestigious award for classic achievement in architecture, the 2017 Piranesi Prix de Rome for Lifetime Achievement, would be presented to 2011 Pritzker Prize winner Eduardo Souto de Moura on March 24, 2017.

Architects Ángela García de Paredes and Ignacio García Pedrosa (Paredes Pedrosa arquitectos) renovated the headquarters of the National Bank of Spain in Madrid, an 1884 building which has been repeatedly renovated but still appears unchanged.

2016 International Sacred Architecture Award and Exhibition
The 2016 International Sacred Architecture Award, promoted by Fondazione Frate Sole of Pavia, was presented on October 4 with a lectio magistralis by the winner, architect Rafael Moneo. The exhibition about the 86 projects participating in the competition will be open until October 11, 2016.

Yoshio Taniguchi wins the Piranesi Prix de Rome
The "Piranesi Prix de Rome" for life-long achievement, an award presented by the Adrianea Academy of Architecture and Archeology with the support of prominent institutions and enterprises, including Graniti Fiandre, will be presented to Japanese architect Yoshio Taniguchi on March 18, when he will hold his first Lectio Magistralis in Italy.
