MVRDV begins construction of the Shenzhen Terraces
In Shenzhen, in southeastern China, construction has begun on the Shenzhen Terraces, the mixed-use project designed by the MVRDV architecture firm and which will form the core of the thriving university district in the city’s Longgang District. The project, which stands as one of the most sustainable carried out in the Chinese metropolis, is characterised by a strong urban component, with a series of terraced areas that aim to maximise public life and an abundance of green spaces.

MVRDV brings new life to the Pyramid of Tirana
Work has begun on the Pyramid of Tirana. The brutalist building originally built as a mausoleum celebrating dictator Hoxha, abandoned for many years, begins a new life as MVRDV transforms it into a multipurpose centre for youth and cultural life in the Albanian capital.

Werk 12 designed by MVRDV and N-V-O Nuyken Von Oefele Architekten winner of DAM Preis 2021
Werk 12, the multifunctional complex built in Munich and designed by the MVRDV and N-V-O Nuyken Von Oefele Architekten architecture firms is the DAM Preis 2021 winner. The most important recognition for architecture built in Germany is being awarded, for the fifth consecutive year, by Frankfurt’s Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) in collaboration with Jung. Together with the Werk 12 complex, the other finalists were "Wohnregal" in Berlin designed by FAR Frohn&Rojas, "Administration building with integrated roof green house" in Oberhaus designed by Kuehn Malvezzi and the "University for Dramatic Arts" in Berlin designed by O&O Baukunst.

MVRDV completes the façade of the Bulgari flagship store in Bangkok
In Bangkok, in IconSiam, one of the largest shopping centres in Asia, MVRDV architecture studio designed the façade of the newly completed Bulgari flagship store. This is the second façade that MVRDV’s architects designed for the historic Italian luxury brand, following the completion of the façade for its flagship store in Kuala Lumpur in 2018.

Greening the City, exhibition at the DAM in Frankfurt
It is evident that green plays a vital role in architecture, and we are all familiar with iconic examples of landmarks adorned with greenery. But it’s time to up the ante and think on a larger scale to make our cities greener in general. The DAM exhibition called Greening the City opens at the end of the month, and there is still time to submit green projects to be included on an interactive map.

MVRDV completes construction of Rotterdam’s Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen
Rotterdam’s Museumpark recently saw the completion of construction of Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, designed by architectural practice MVRDV. This unusual bowl-shaped building, lined with mirrors and with a hanging garden on the roof, will become the world’s first art deposit open to the public, due to be officially opened in the autumn of 2021.
