Area 17 and INRES have created a “Supermarket of the Future” using Carlo Ratti’s experimental technologies. The Coop store in Milan’s Bicocca Village, designed by Area 17, INRES and Carlo Ratti Associati, ushers in the change with Iris Ceramica porcelain floor and wall coverings.

Fascinated by Escher’s impossible constructions, architects Luca Aureggi and Maurizio Condoluci (Westway Architects), in collaboration with architect Stefano Pavia, have created a system of staircases inspired by the Dutch engraver’s creations for the renovation of a low-cost housing block in Milan.

Architectural practice Area-17 designed a store of this kind for Coop in Bicocca Village, on the basis of experimental concepts developed and presented by Carlo Ratti Associati in the Coop pavilion at Expo 2015, covering the surfaces with Iris Ceramica porcelain.

The 15th International Architecture exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia curated by Chilean architect and Pritzker prize-winner Alejandro Aravena titled “Reporting from the Front” has just finished, and work to restore the German pavilion has begun.
