ANMA: Hexagone Balard defence department, Paris

The French Department of Defence has a new home, Hexagone Balard: a 163,000 square metre complex in the 15th arrondissement in Paris. Designed by ANMA, Agence Nicolas Michelin & Associés, the complex brings together parts of the defence department that were formerly scattered around the city in a monumental building with a green heart.

Bernard Khoury and the enigmatic NBK residence (2) in Beirut

Bernard Khoury designed the NBK residence (2) in Beirut, a penthouse on three levels that seems to be a separate body from the tower on which it rests, for himself and his family. In the NBK residence (2), a sort of alien home, Bernard Khoury makes contradictory choices representing the changing moods of Beirut.

Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter (RRA): Kimen Cultural Centre Stjørdal

At the end of a competitive tender process by invitation announced in 2010 Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter (RRA) was successful in winning the project for the Kimen Stjørdal Cultural Centre, in the heart of Norway. RRA designed a technological container of concrete, steel and glass with a roof inspired by the local traditional houses which have double-pitched roofs.

CF Møller and signs new Bestseller offices in Aarhus (Denmark)

The accuracy of the compositional language of CF Moller translates into a new office complex for the fashion brand Bestseller in Aarhus (Denmark). The Bestseller offices on Aarhus Harbour are a multi-block complex, a small city within a city offering a balanced mixture of buildings and outdoor spaces.

V+ e Bouwtechniek: expansion on Montigny-Le-Tilleul town hall

V+ and Bouwtechniek won the competition for expansion of the town hall in Montigny-Le-Tilleul (Belgium). Their project has adapted the old town hall to suit its new functions and used the green area behind the existing 18th century building to create a new wing, a lightweight construction which clearly stands out from the old town hall.

Italian studio Architettura Matassoni designs Villa N, a single-family home in Bucine, in the heart of Tuscany. Architettura Matassoni’s Villa N contains references to deconstructivism, combined with a search for the natural dimension as a completion of living space.

DiDeA Ai Giudici coffee shop and lounge bar, Palermo

Architects Nicola Giuseppe Andò, Emanuela di Gaetano, Alfonso Riccio and Giuseppe De Lisi of Studio DiDe have designed a little coffee shop and lounge bar in central Palermo, a flexible space inspired by post-industrial design which can be constantly changed by altering the position of handmade elements and furnishings.

Karaoke in Tel Aviv: Plug In by Yaron Tal

Israeli architect Yaron Tal designed the interiors of Plug In, a karaoke bar in Tel Aviv. The complex has 18 rooms of different sizes, each decorated differently and designed to contain 4 to 100 people. The theme of the bar is, of course, music.
