David Adjaye’s Washington Museum named Best Design of the Year 2017
The London Design Museum has announced the winner of the Beazley Design of the Year 2017 award, naming the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., designed by a group of architects led by David Adjaye as Best Design of 2017.

The new Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture designed by the Freelon Adjaye Bond/SmithGroup association of studios is built on the spot where Martin Luther King made his famous “I have a dream” speech on August 28, 1963. The building plays an important role in recalling a part of American history at a time when racial issues are back in the news once again.

Renzo Piano Building Workshop Columbia Manhattanville Campus
Two new buildings have been completed for Columbia University’s Manhattanville Campus on an abandoned industrial site on the island of Manhattan, New York. The Lenfest Center for the Arts and the Jerome L. Greene Science Center, designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, are due to open in the spring of 2017.

BIG unveils plans for the World Trade Center
BIG architectural studio has unveiled its plans for the last new skyscraper to be built on the site of the World Trade Center. The Danish studio’s project is identified as 2 WTC in the five towers included in Daniel Libeskind’s plan, and is due to be completed in 2021.

The Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Pop-Up Pool by Davis Brody Bond and Spacesmith
US architecture firm Davis Brody Bond, recipient of one of the 2015 AIA Honor Awards for Interior Architecture for their National September 11 Memorial Museum, have also designed a Pop-Up Pool in Brooklyn Bridge Park, New York, togehter with partner firm Spacesmith.
