JGMA Esperanza Health Centre Brighton Park for Public Health in Chicago
Designers from the JGMA studio have created a contemporary community health centre, capable of providing essential services that are currently lacking in this southwestern area of Chicago. With its large lobby, the architecture extends towards the community which, here, finds a new neighbourhood landmark.

SOM 800 Fulton Market: new ways of living and working in Chicago
800 Fulton Market, the tower block designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), represents a bridge between the past and the future for the Chicago district of the same name. The building, which has obtained a number of important sustainability certifications, is a mixed-use office tower about 100 metres tall, with seven landscaped terraces and an advanced building management system.

CTBUH Announces 2022 Best Tall Buildings
The "Best Tall Building Awards of Excellence" are given out to the best tall building projects built anywhere in the world and selected by the CTBUH jury. Among these outstanding "excellences" in design and innovation in vertical construction, the winners of each category will be selected, together with the most prestigious title, the Overall Best Tall Building Worldwide, which will be announced in November during the CTBUH international conference.

JGMA and the SOS Children's Villages Illinois’s Roosevelt Square Community Center
The American architecture firm JGMA has designed the Roosevelt Square Community Center of the SOS Children's Villages Illinois organisation. A new cross-laminated timber (CLT) volume that houses both the offices of the SOS Children's Villages Illinois and the community centre with a kitchen space. A place as a physical manifestation of the forward-looking nature of the organisation that looks after children and families.

The winners of the 24th edition of the IIDA/HD Expo Product Design Awards
The IIDA association, in collaboration with the Hospitality Design magazine, recently announced the winners of the 24th edition of the IIDA/HD Expo Product Design Awards. The jury of experts selected four winning products and judged them to be adequate to the needs of the hospitality sector, sustainable and, above all, human-centred. Among the winners, in the Flooring/Hard Surfaces category, we find the Liquid Cosmo Grey collection by Iris Ceramica Diesel Living.

CTBUH names Urban Habitat Award Excellence Projects
In preparation for the 2021 edition of the Tall + Urban Innovation Conference, set to take place online on May 18 to 20 of this year, the CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) revealed the winning “excellence” projects in various categories of its prestigious awards. After the buildings have been categorised according to height, the new excellence winners are skyscrapers selected for the technological and construction aspects adopted, for their intended use or for the Urban Habitat category.

John Ronan Architects designs the Ed Kaplan Family Institute in Chicago
The headquarters of the Ed Kaplan Family Institute for Innovation and Tech Entrepreneurship is a new open and bright building designed by architecture firm John Ronan Architects in the heart of the Illinois Institute of Technology campus, an iconic project by Ludwig Mies van Der Rohe. The project is one of the eight recipients of the annual Architecture Awards 2020 handed out by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara win the 2020 Pritzker Prize
Their integral approach, generosity toward their colleagues, commitment to excellence in architecture, responsible approach to the environment and faith in collaboration are all merits the Pritzker Prize jury listed in its motivation for awarding the prestigious Pritzker Prize, a sort of Nobel Prize for architecture, to Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, founders of Grafton Architects in Dublin, Ireland.
