CTBUH Announces 2022 Best Tall Buildings

Chicago, USA,

Skyscraper,

The "Best Tall Building Awards of Excellence" are given out to the best tall building projects built anywhere in the world and selected by the CTBUH jury. Among these outstanding "excellences" in design and innovation in vertical construction, the winners of each category will be selected, together with the most prestigious title, the Overall Best Tall Building Worldwide, which will be announced in November during the CTBUH international conference.

CTBUH Announces 2022 Best Tall Buildings

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) announced on March 17 the first tall buildings of "excellence" of 2022. Tall buildings constructed anywhere in the world that meet the requirements of excellence established by the CTBUH. Selected by a special jury as winners of the "Best Tall Building Award of Excellence" title, they compete as finalists in the relative categories of the award. The selected tall buildings, in fact, are divided into categories and related sub-categories and a specific building can classify as "excellent" in multiple areas.
In this first phase, the excellent buildings were announced only for a few of the main categories including height (subcategories: under 100 metres, 100-199 metres, 200-299 metres, 300-399 metres and over 400 metres) and function (subcategories: office, mixed-use and residential ). Subsequently, the finalists for the engineering, construction, interior design and urban habitat categories will also be announced.

The selected works therefore represent the excellence, innovation and creativity achieved in the sector of tall building construction and, as underlined by Karl Fender, Chair of the Best Tall Building jury and founding partner of Fender Katsalidis Architects, these projects are virtuous examples of those concepts of "sustainable vertical urbanism" promoted by the CTBUH. And it is precisely to the search and definition of the "ideal in vertical urbanism" that the 2022 edition of the annual international conference promoted by the CTBUH will be dedicated, entitled "Tall Excellence: Seeking the Ideal in Vertical Urbanism". The winners of each category and of the most important title, the Overall Best Tall Building Worldwide, will also be announced during the conference, set to take place in Chicago from November 9 to 12, 2022.

This year’s selected excellences include two tall buildings which we recently looked at in the pages of Floornature: in the "Best Tall Building under 100 metres" category, the Museum of The Future in Dubai, designed by the Killa Design studio, and in the "Best Tall Office Building" category, Tour Trinity, built in the La Défense district in western Paris and designed by the Cro&Co Architecture studio.
