Archstudio: Courtyard villa in Tangshan, Hebei, China
In a twist on the traditional Chinese ‘siheyuan’, Archstudio has created a contemporary villa in Tangshan built around a central courtyard. To ensure the intimacy of each function, the rooms are deconstructed and introverted, whilst the glazed courtyard’s boundaries extend deep into the surrounding landscape.

PIFO GALLERY by ARCHSTUDIO, renovating with natural light
Designers from ARCHSTUDIO renovated the renowned PIFO GALLERY art gallery in Beijing. The space, which integrates the functions of art exhibition, reception and office, has been revisited from what was originally a "closed box". By choosing the theme of light for the design, the architects in fact opened up the space to the urban context.

Archstudio: Buddhist temple on the river in Tangshan, China
Han Wen-Qiang and Archstudio’s new Buddhist temple on the river in Tangshan, in northern China, is a highly symbolic project. Archstudio has designed an underground construction with open courtyards and skylights that let the temple’s natural surroundings come in and promote meditation.

Poly WeDo is a school of music and the performing arts for children in Beijing’s Yongli shopping centre. Archstudio, the Chinese architects who designed the school, took great care with every detail, from acoustics to the natural environment.
