Stefano Boeri Architetti Urban Tree Lounge Milano Design Week

During Milano Design Week, in the central square of Superstudio at Materials Village, set up by Material ConneXion Italia, visitors will be able to relax and recharge both their bodies and their mobile devices at the Urban Tree Lounge, an installation designed by Stefano Boeri with the Design division of 3M™ (3M Design).
The installation is a lounge made using unusual materials and volumes, a pleasant little nest in which to relax, created in line with the principles of sustainable design and architecture.
The architect, who designed the famous award-winning green skyscraper known as Bosco Verticale (The Vertical Forest), draws his inspiration for the Urban Tree Lounge from nature, particularly from the “tree” system.
The lounge is made up of comfortable chairs arranged in the shade of an artificial tree with leaves made of reflective 3M™ Dicroic Film. A prototype for new public spaces which absorbs, filters and reflects light to create shadows and offer a relaxing corner in which to recharge not only one’s own body but the mobile devices so essential for our work and social lives today.
