A project combining elements of traditional Indian Islamic architecture with contemporary construction solutions.

Morphogenesis, Pearl Academy of Fashion, Jaipur
The Pearl Academy of Fashion is one of India?s most important design institutes, and the building housing it, designed by the architects of Morphogenesis is in eastern Jaipur.

The building?s energy efficiency, achievement of 100% self-sufficiency in both energy and water, collecting rainwater and recycling wastewater, are key elements of the project.

To deal with the city?s difficult climatic conditions, the architects resorted to construction solutions permitting passive cooling of the building, such as a double skin providing thermal insulation.
This solution is inspired by a traditional element of Indian Islamic architecture: the jaali, an openwork wall based on a geometric design or motif, reinterpreted using modern design and construction systems.
