International Architecture Exhibition in Venice - the best of the week

The 15th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice will be directed by Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena and held May 28 through November 27 2016 under the title Reporting From The Front.
In this edition of the best of the week, we look back over recent editions and the directors of previous architecture exhibitions in Venice.

Fundamentals, the 14th edition of the exhibition, held in 2014, was directed by architect Rem Koolhaas, founder of OMA, who wanted to take a fresh look at the fundamental elements of architecture - used by any architect, anywhere, anytime, to see if we can discover something new about architecture.
In 2012, the exhibition was curated by architect David Chipperfield, and the emphasis was “on what we have in common. Above all, the ambition of Common Ground is to reassert the existence of an architectural culture made up not just of singular talents but a rich continuity of diverse ideas united [...] in common predicaments and ideals.” (David Chipperfield).
The focus was on relations between individuals, society and architecture at “People meet in architecture”, the 2010 edition, curated by architect Kazuyo Sejima.
