Art and design at the Vitra Museum, an exhibition of pop art, the most significant post-war artistic movement.

Exhibition Pop Art Design, Vitra Museum
At the Vitra Museum, works by such artists as Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Roy Lichtenstein, Judy Chicago and more, are put side by side with items designed by Charles Eames, George Nelson, Achille Castiglioni and Ettore Sottsass, just to mentions some of the stars of the Pop Art Design exhibition, being held from 13th October until 3rd February 2012.

With its direct juxtaposition of exhibits, the exhibition offers new insights into the Pop Art movement, wheredesign plays such a fundamental part. The exhibition?s core is the mutual influence of Art and Design, and is preceded by a “prologue” that illustrates how many of the visual elements of Pop Art had emerged as early as the 1930s and how at the same time, design had become a new discipline, making it a catalyst for new artistic ideas.
The exhibition also seeks to examine the relationship between everyday object and image more closely, in order to understand how Pop Art is closely related to our daily lives and to the consumer culture.
