Van Gogh Alive exhibition in Florence The grand international exhibition, Van Gogh Alive, has arrived in Florence in the unique deconsecrated church of Santo Stefano al Ponte, near Ponte Vecchio, a backdrop that enhances the charm of this innovative way of showcasing Van Gogh’s artworks.

Kryps! was the first thing that came to mind when we saw the innovative Van Gogh Alive, exhibiting his art to the general public in Florence from 16 February to 12 April.

Indeed, the multimedia and contemporary vision of Van Gogh’s artwork is offered in this space using the sophisticated SENSORY4 technique where images can be projected onto the surfaces of the deconsecrated Church of Santo Stefano al Ponte, near Ponte Vecchio, combining 3D sounds and feeling like big screen film heroes. A real full immersion into the colourful world of one of the general public's most beloved impressionist painters.

An approach in the style of Kryps, Polish artist who communicates the building by projecting its scale image onto the actual structure, mentioned in the book “architecture on the web. A critical approach to communication”. Which brings us to the question asked by Paolo Schianchi in his essay “The image of architecture on the web”, contained in that same book: “What – and where – is the image of architecture in the web era?”  Van Gogh Alive seems to give a range of responses, consolidating the multimedia process to bring art close to those who are not habitués of museums and art shows.

Which makes the evocative setting of this old church even more special, with surfaces that make the 40 selected paintings even more impacting. The effect is almost at odds with the exhibition, because you feel so immersed in the actual paintings, face-to-face with the texture of the brushstrokes and the details created by Van Gogh.
