Prize-winning architecture and sustainability. CasaClima Awards 2013
Five winners and three special mentions for the CasaClima Awards 2013. Projects submitted from all over Italy are tangible proof that designers and users are focusing more and more on sustainable building.

The CasaClima Awards 2013 go to both new-builds and redevelopments and restorations that commendably demonstrate the attention paid to energy efficiency aspects and the sustainable use of resources.

Never before like this year have we seen so many ideas proliferate all over Italy – from the Alpine range to Apulia, the site of the project by Pedone architects for a Mediterranean villa in Bisceglie, which merges technological know-how with locally sourced, traditional materials and forms.

Architect, Isabella Touissant won a prize for the redevelopment of an old industrial building in Robiglio, turning it into an A class energy efficient home adopting innovative architectural solutions.
Casa Oberhuber in Bressanone, by architect Hugo Demez is also a refurbished old building, while the Convitto Bachmann in Tarvisio by RUNCIO Associati is a fine example of what happens when the public administration invests in bioclimatic building.

Renzo Piano Building Workshop was another winner, with the “Le Albere” district in Trento that is redeveloping a disused zone and making it B class energy efficient.
