- Biennale Interieur 2016 - here are the curators
The 25th edition of the Biennale Interieur running from 14th to 23rd October 2016 in Kortrijk, Belgium, will have Belgian architects OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen as curators.
The Belgian duo will carry out this task in rigorous collaboration with artist Richard Venlet and the graphic designer Joris Kritis, who aim to create an exhibition platform and share the contemporary design theme uniting the Kortrijk Xpo pavilions.
Kersten Geers and David Van Severen have a special relationship with this place: in 2007 they were involved in the last big transformation of the Kortijk Xpo exhibition complex.
Therefore, after Joseph Grima (Space Caviar) in 2014, who is now the curator of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, for the special 25th Year Edition of the Biennale Interieur the duo OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen will put a great deal of emphasis into showing the inherent potential of the exhibition halls' architecture in favour of urban life and fabric. Their objective is to present a “fresh and radical vision on what furniture, interior and architecture represent today. The 25th Biennale will be a fresh, sharp, pure urban celebration of the interior”.
A statement which we like and seems to be totally in line with OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen's design approach where the context, connections and interactions have always been of great importance.
