The proposal for the Milan football team’s new stadium was presented to Fondazione Fiera Milano by AC Milan and studio ARUP, involving redevelopment of pavilions 1 and 2 at Portello, Fiera Milano’s urban location.
ARUP’s Italian division developed the architectural and urban planning aspects of project on the basis of a holistic, integrated approach focusing on spectators’ needs and sustainability. The stadium’s roof, for example, will be mobile to cut noise levels in the neighbourhood.
Every part of the project has been designed with the spectator’s experience in mind, using high-tech solutions to improve it.
The sports complex will include a series of additional facilities and services: a hotel, a sports school, a children’s playground, green areas and spaces open to the city for public use.
