Founded in 1983,
Wiel Arets Architects now has offices in a number of cities - Amsterdam, Maastricht and Zurich – and is well-known all over the world. The exhibition open until February 13 2011 illustrates the
architects’ intense work on a number of levels of interpretation and comprehension: from the architectural theoretician to the architect, from the photographer to the distracted observer, the aim of the exhibition is to make the world of architecture accessible to all. Each work of
architecture is presented through photographs taken at different times, and furniture designed by the studio is arranged in sets where visitors can pose and become a part of the exhibition as viewed by others. Video interviews by Wiel Arets with
Alberto Alessi, Toyo Ito, Kazuyo Sejima and Sanaa and documentaries in which the architect leads visitors through the cities of
Tokyo, Zurich, Berlin and Milan offer him an opportunity to explain his vision of the future of architecture and urban construction.
