Winners of the 2021 CTBUH Best Tall Building Awards

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat recently announced the annual Best Tall Building Award of Excellence Winners in a number of categories. Koichi Takada Architects’ Arc in Sydney, Sou Fujimoto, Nicolas Laisné and Oxo Architects’ White Tree in Montpellier, France, Heatherwick Studiop’s Eden in Singapore, Studio Gang’s MIRA Tower in San Francisco, WOHA’s Sky Green in Taichung, Taiwan, Zaha Hadid Architects Leeza SOHO in Beijing and One Thousand Museum in Miami, and Safdie Architects’ Raffles City Chongqing in the Chinese city of the same name are only a few of the skyscrapers selected by CTBUH that have been described in Floornature.

Zaha Hadid Architects designs a Student Residence at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Architecture firm Zaha Hadid Architects, in collaboration with Leigh & Orange Limited, designed the new Student Residence for the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The complex will house over 1,500 students and will become an example of the combination between advanced digital design, sustainable construction techniques and long-term operational strategies. The project is expected to be completed in 2023.

Architect Patrik Schumacher will hold a lecture via live streaming on 26 November 2020 on the digital platform webcast.irisceramicagroup.com, marking the 15th event in The Architects Series, a series of docufilms produced by The Plan magazine for the Iris Ceramica Group, taking viewers behind the scenes at Zaha Hadid Architects, the studio founded by the late Anglo-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, who became the first woman to be awarded the Pritzker Prize for Architecture in 2004 and died prematurely on 31 March 2016.

Laurian Ghinitoiu’s splendid photographs offer us a glimpse of the interiors of the ME Dubai, the hotel recently inaugurated in The Opus, a skyscraper in an unusual hollow cube shape designed by Zaha Hadid in 2007. The new hotel, a member of the Spanish Melia Hotels International chain, is the only hotel for which Zaha Hadid supplied not only the architecture but the interior design.
