FABG Architects and the Esplanade Tranquille du Quartier des Spectacles

The Esplanade Tranquille du Quartier des Spectacles is a project recently completed by the Canadian FABG Architects studio, located in the heart of Montreal's entertainment district. The project consists of a building, a pedestrian walk and a public square that connects several key cultural institutions, including the Place des Arts, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal and the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde.

Winners of the 2021 Prix d’excellence en architecture

Eleven Canadian projects have been awarded the Prix d’excellence en architecture 2021, announced by the Ordre des architectes du Québec during an online gala held on April 1. The Grand Prix d’excellence en architecture 2021 and the ‘Prix du public’ (People’s Choice) were presented to the renovation of the Grand Théâtre de Québec, by architectural studio Lemay and Atelier 21, who brought new life to a theatre designed by architect Victor Prus and opened in 1971.

Quai 5160, Verdun’s new cultural centre designed by FABG of Canada

Award-winning Canadian architectural studio FABG has completed Quai 5160, a new cultural centre produced by conversion and expansion of the existing Guy-Gagnon arena in Montreal’s Verdun district. The centre includes a 360-seat theatre, an art gallery, a meeting room and a school of the circus arts, as well as all the necessary management offices. Quai 5160 is an elongated two-storey building clad in glass and white perforated aluminium, with windows over the riverbank and the adjacent park to encourage citizens to make use of these formerly contaminated areas.

McGill University in Montreal, Canada needed a new building to house three 1.5 MW emergency generators to protect research work in the event of a blackout. Les architectes FABG built a construction combining historical research with architecture, engineering and landscaping, offering a sustainable response that goes beyond the building’s purely utilitarian purpose.

The Ordre des architectes du Québec (OAQ) announced the winners of its awards of excellence and distinctions for 2020 online, during a live, interactive gathering. This year’s Grand Prix d’excellence went to the Espace Paddock, designed by Les architectes FABG.
