CTBUH announces the finalists for the 10 Year Award
The "10 Year Award" is one of the most interesting awards presented at the Tall + Urban Innovation Conference, an annual event organised by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. This year’s award will be assigned to skyscrapers built in 2010 and 2011, now ten years old, in order to determine their actual impact on other, similar constructions and how they have withstood the test of time. The list of finalists for the 2021 award naturally includes the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, two authentic icons of contemporary architecture.

CTBUH names Urban Habitat Award Excellence Projects
In preparation for the 2021 edition of the Tall + Urban Innovation Conference, set to take place online on May 18 to 20 of this year, the CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) revealed the winning “excellence” projects in various categories of its prestigious awards. After the buildings have been categorised according to height, the new excellence winners are skyscrapers selected for the technological and construction aspects adopted, for their intended use or for the Urban Habitat category.

Winners of the 2021 CTBUH Best Tall Building Awards
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat recently announced the annual Best Tall Building Award of Excellence Winners in a number of categories. Koichi Takada Architects’ Arc in Sydney, Sou Fujimoto, Nicolas Laisné and Oxo Architects’ White Tree in Montpellier, France, Heatherwick Studiop’s Eden in Singapore, Studio Gang’s MIRA Tower in San Francisco, WOHA’s Sky Green in Taichung, Taiwan, Zaha Hadid Architects Leeza SOHO in Beijing and One Thousand Museum in Miami, and Safdie Architects’ Raffles City Chongqing in the Chinese city of the same name are only a few of the skyscrapers selected by CTBUH that have been described in Floornature.

Singapore Institute of Architects announces winners of the Architectural Design Awards 2020
The Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) recently published the list of winners of the 19th edition of the Architectural Design Awards 2020. The prizes are awarded to projects designed by SIA members divided into 6 categories and evaluated by a jury that selects the 20 Design Awards and the 11 Merit Awards, plus two special Buildings of the Year prizes which, for this 2020 edition went to the Jewel Changi Airport designed by Safdie Architects and the Sky Green tower designed by WOHA Architects.

RAPPU by OWIU, a new venue in the historical fabric of Singapore
RAPPU, in Singapore’s lively Tanjong Pagar district, is the latest project by OWIU Studio. The venue is a new omakase sushi bar concept by The Feather Blade group. A project that rehabilitates the historic building and offers striking design worthy of the largest restaurant of its kind in Singapore.

Heatherwick’s EDEN, the studio’s first residential project in Singapore
The architects of Heatherwick Studio have completed their first residential project in Asia. EDEN is a "super-green" skyscraper 104 metres high in Singapore’s historic Newton district inspired by Lee Kuan Yew’s original concept of a "city in a garden". The entire complex contains only 20 apartments featuring crafted details and combining passive climate control with a refined concept of luxury.

Foster and Partners designs the Apple Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, a store floating on water
For its third store in Singapore, Apple has inaugurated a space that promises an unforgettable experience for its customers. A self-supporting domed structure made entirely of glass, which makes the store appear like a floating sphere on Marina Bay’s waters, a precious gemstone and a celebration of light. The project was designed by the Foster and Partners architectural firm in collaboration with Apple’s design team.
