The best architects award, established in 2006 to honour the best architecture in German-speaking countries, has expanded to include all of Europe in its eleventh year, for “best architects 2017”.

Eduardo Souto de Moura Piranesi Prix de Rome for Lifetime Achievement

On November 22, 2016 it was announced that the prestigious award for classic achievement in architecture, the 2017 Piranesi Prix de Rome for Lifetime Achievement, would be presented to 2011 Pritzker Prize winner Eduardo Souto de Moura on March 24, 2017.

2016 Architect of the Year award and Architects' Festival in Venice

The 2016 Architects' Festival was held on November 18 and 19, during the 15th International Architecture Exhibition, Reporting From the Front, curated by Alejandro Aravena at La Biennale di Venezia, where the winners of the Italian Architect of 2016, Young talent in Italian Architecture of 2016 and Reuse 05: Sustainable Urban Regeneration prizes were announced.

Paulo Mendes da Rocha Royal Gold Medal 2017 RIBA

2016 was definitely a "golden year" for Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha. The long list of awards presented to him over the course of his career, including the 2006 Pritzker Prize, grew longer with the addition of a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, the Praemium Imperiale International Arts Award and now, the RIBA Royal Gold Medal.

2016 International Sacred Architecture Award and Exhibition

The 2016 International Sacred Architecture Award, promoted by Fondazione Frate Sole of Pavia, was presented on October 4 with a lectio magistralis by the winner, architect Rafael Moneo. The exhibition about the 86 projects participating in the competition will be open until October 11, 2016.

Guelmim School of Technology Morocco Aga Khan Award Architecture

The Guelmim School of Technology, in Guelmim, Morocco, designed by architects Saad El Kabbaj, Driss Kettani and Mohamed Amine Siana, was selected amongst the 348 projects participating in the 13th edition of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and is now one of the 19 finalist projects chosen for this prestigious Award.
