Local Cultures in Global Settings, Iris Ceramica Group contest kicks off
Celebrating local cultures in global settings is the central theme – as well as the title – of the new international contest promoted by the Iris Ceramica Group and curated by UAE Modern. Following the round table held in Milan on April 20 during the Fuorisalone to kick off the event, new talks are planned in London and Dubai to accompany the contest until the final announcement of the winners at the Dubai Design Week.

Creating new relationships with context: a pedestrian bridge over the Thames
The Dukes Meadows Footbridge is a new pedestrian bridge in Chiswick, West London. The infrastructure designed by Moxon Architects with structural engineers COWI, located below the Barnes Bridge, a historic railway bridge, establishes a new urban relationship with a section of the Thames Path and improves safety, access and pedestrian flow.

Architecture Drawing Prize 2022, the overall winner and the exhibition
The overall winner of the Architecture Drawing Prize 2022 was announced yesterday by World Architecture Festival co-curators Make Architects and Sir John Soane's Museum. The hybrid drawing entitled 'Fitzroy Food Institute' by Samuel Wen and Michael Ren combines different rendering techniques. The exhibition with the winning and shortlisted drawings exhibition opens on 8 February at the Sir John Soane's Museum in London.

Lina Ghotmeh designs the new Serpentine Pavilion in London
French-Lebanese architect Lina Ghotmeh will design the 22nd Serpentine Pavilion, the temporary structure which, from June 2023, will host the summer programme of the Serpentine Galleries in London. The project entitled "À table" is part of the research conducted by the architect, who explores the concepts of memory, space and landscape.

Henley Halebrown Hackney New Primary School and 333 Kingsland Road in London
In London, the hybrid building designed by Henley Halebrown combines a new primary school with an affordable housing complex. The project was selected as one of six finalists for the RIBA Stirling Prize and won the Neave Brown Award for Housing 2022, a RIBA award reserved for social housing projects.

Daan Roosegaarde’s SPARK wins the 2022 Dutch Creativity Awards
Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde’s Studio Roosegarde and Media.Monks have won the prestigious 2022 Dutch Creativity Awards for SPARK: a poetic performance in which thousands of biodegradable sparks of light float organically in the air. The artist drew his inspiration from the magical light of fireflies in this new version of the ritual of fireworks.

Battersea Power Station London opens to the public
London’s famous Battersea Power Station opens to the public today, 14 October, concluding the second phase in London’s greatest ever urban regeneration project, the Battersea Embankment Development. The primary purpose of the reclamation and conversion of the power plant by award-winning studio Wilkinson Eyre is creation of a multi-purpose mixed-use development that will become an exemplary project for the city. The interiors are designed by Michaelis Boyd.
