Pedro Reis: house in Melides

One volume inspired by the earth and another by the sky form a holiday house in Melides, Portugal, which Pedro Reis has arranged in a cross shape differentiating between main functions and accessory functions. Using big sky-frames on the upper level and prefabricated concrete the colour of the local humus on the lower level, the architect links the first with the sky and the second with the earth, marking the point where they come together with a pool of water.
