Next Landmark 2014 rewards Mariela Apollonio for The Art Circle

Romàn Cordero and Izbeth Katia Mendoza Fragoso’s study of cliff dwellings won a prize on the Next Landmark 2014 international architecture contest. Cliff dwellings, the winner in the research category, is a model of a self-sufficient symbiotic structure permitting use of the planet’s vertical surfaces as a human habitat.

Bolles + Wilson: transformation of a church in Münster into a kindergarten

Bolles+Wilson converted the deconsecrated church of San Sebastiano in Münster into a kindergarten. The elliptical shape of the church’s floor plan turned out to be ideal for creating a large play area, and the children attending the new institution will assimilate the value of protecting a space and remembering its identity from a tender age.

3XN architects: Plassen Cultural Center in Norway

Winner of the competition on invitation for the new cultural centre in central Molde, Norway, Danish studio 3XN interprets the building as a city square, using the same materials on the walls as on the outdoor paving.
