The second edition of the Active Competitions kicks off!

After the great success of the previous edition, the ACTIVE DESIGN and ACTIVE ARCHITECTURE awards are back; these international architecture and design competitions are dedicated to new, “smart” design that respects the environment.
Introduced by Iris Ceramica, FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti and Graniti Fiandre, companies that have always shown their awareness of the issue of sustainability, in collaboration with QN-Il Resto del Carlino, the competitions aim to promote eco-compatible design in general which, thanks to the use of innovative materials, is capable of ensuring both high quality and environmental conservation.

Attention to fostering sustainable design undoubtedly reflects the philosophy of the Modena-based companies which, also thanks to the venue provided by the competitions, promote the use of environmentally-friendly floor and wall coverings like ACTIVE Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™, the flagship of recent production.

"Following the success of the previous edition, we decided to continue recognizing the design of the future,” comments Graziano Verdi. “This year is Iris Ceramica’s 50th anniversary, an important stage that we have supported since 1961 with on-going research on the quality of the materials while respecting the environment, as demonstrated by the success of ACTIVE CLEAN AIR & ANTIBACTERIAL CERAMIC™, the new production method with the application of titanium dioxide at high temperatures and in micrometric form which has revolutionized the ceramics industry thanks to its eco-active, anti-polluting and anti-bacterial properties for eco-sustainable architecture and an increasingly green future".

The two competitions, which range from the search of the best architectural project to the most innovative design, are open to designers, companies, customers and distributors, and will recognize the ideas – all of which should be submitted no later than March 31, 2012 – which best respond to the new healthy buildings and living needs without harming the environment.
