Numerous events and conferences about architecture are getting underway in Italy this autumn, from Milan to Rome and from Parma to Florence, while FREESPACE, the 16th International Architecture Show at the Biennale in Venice, is about to close. Here are some of the season’s most important events.
During a gala held at the Evergreen Brick Works of Toronto, Azure unveiled the 20 architects and designers who won the 20 categories of the AZ Awards 2018. Among the winners is the design of the multi-storey residential building The Silo, by COBE, and of the Copenhagen International School, by CF Møller Architects.
Mexicans Manuel Perló Cohen and Loreta Castro Reguera, Urban Planner and Architect, together with a multidisciplinary team from UNAM, have won gold for Latin America in the 2017 LafargeHolcim Awards with a project involving water infrastructure for a favela in Mexico City by integrating green courtyards and public buildings.
The Architectural Review magazine has announced the winners of this year’s Women in Architecture awards. Jeanne Gang has been named Architect of the Year, while Gabriela Etchegaray has been awarded the Moira Gemmill Prize for Emerging Architecture, architect Odile Decq has won the Jane Drew Prize, and Julia Peyton-Jones, co-director of London’s Serpentine Gallery, has won the Ada Louise Huxtable Prize.
