Tarabot by theOtherDada: Biodiversity and sustainability at the Jameel Arts Centre for COP28

Tarabot: Weaving A Living Forum, inspired by an idea by architect Adib Dada of studioOtherDada in Beirut, is a sustainable pavilion inaugurated during COP28 at the Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai. Made with locally sourced materials such as clay, mycelium, date palm waste and upcycled fabric, the pavilion incarnates a circular, ecological ethic and promotes biodiversity.

Leopold Banchini Architects’ Marra Marra Shack in Australia

Building with respect for the location and its traditions is one of the keys to the latest project of the studio founded by Leopold Banchini. The shelter in Marra Marra Creek, Berowra, in New South Wales, Australia is made entirely of wood, most of it reclaimed, in a tribute to the Darug aboriginal people.

A rendezvous with a view: The Podium by MVRDV

Just a few short days after Rotterdam’s Rooftop Walk opened its doors to the public comes another installation from MVRDV intended to make a very special rooftop in the Dutch city accessible to all, namely that of the Het Nieuwe Instituut, a cultural centre with a focus on architecture, design and digital culture. The vibrant hot pink podium forms the heart of Rotterdam Architecture Month - this June - and will later be used as an event location until the end of August.

Creative recycling: MVRDV’s Bulgari flagship store in Shanghai

Rotterdam architectural studio MVRDV has completed the Bulgari flagship store in Shanghai, a new boutique showcasing the circular economy with a green, jade-like façade made from brass and recycled glass bottles, referencing the original Bulgari boutique in Rome and Shanghai’s Art Deco architecture.

The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta - designed by US firm Lord Aeck Sargent in collaboration with The Miller Hull Partnership - has won one of the AIA COTE® Top Ten Awards. These constitute the industry’s best-known awards programme for excellence in sustainable design and are presented by the AIA which, for the past 25 years, has celebrated ten of the most innovative and outstanding projects in the field of design and sustainability.
