Tarabot: Weaving A Living Forum, inspired by an idea by architect Adib Dada of studioOtherDada in Beirut, is a sustainable pavilion inaugurated during COP28 at the Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai. Made with locally sourced materials such as clay, mycelium, date palm waste and upcycled fabric, the pavilion incarnates a circular, ecological ethic and promotes biodiversity.

The Pyramid of Tirana: transforming a historic monument
Dutch architectural practice MVRDV has completed an important project transforming an old monument in the Albanian capital. A facility opened in 1988 as a museum about the dictator Enver Hoxha has now been given new life as a vibrant cultural centre and educational facility in the heart of Tirana, demonstrating the great potential of historic constructions in Brutalist style.

In the heart of the arid Negev Desert in Israel, in Be'er Sheva, stands MIDBARIUM, also known as The Jack, Joseph & Morton Mandell Animal Park. This architectural project, led by the A. Lerman Architects studio, is not only an iconic repository that tells the story of the local animal world, but also a testimony of sustainable design in harmony with nature.

Ivrea reopens its doors: Welc-Home to my House 2023
Once again this year, Ivrea - the industrial city of the 20th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site - opens its doors for visitors to marvel at Olivetti’s architecture, with involvement from local citizens and a media partnership with Floornature. There are two weekends available - 23/24 September and 30 September/1 October - as well as days dedicated to photography and architecture on 22 and 30 September respectively.

The story of the Zikawei Library in Shanghai is a tale of intelligent reuse, as the building was originally designed as a bookstore by David Chipperfield Architects. Immediately after the completion of the façade and the structure, it remained empty. However, at the city's will and thanks to the intervention of the Wutopia Lab studio, it has recently become the iconic public library of the Zikawei district.

The Esplanade Tranquille du Quartier des Spectacles is a project recently completed by the Canadian FABG Architects studio, located in the heart of Montreal's entertainment district. The project consists of a building, a pedestrian walk and a public square that connects several key cultural institutions, including the Place des Arts, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal and the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde.

FLORA, an acronym for Forest Lab for Observational Research and Analysis, is a facility in the Collserola Natural Park (Barcelona) developed by a team of students and researchers from IAAC's Master’s in Advanced Ecological Buildings and Biocities (MAEBB). Built from sustainable, locally-sourced materials, it allows researchers to monitor the forest from within.
