The new contemporary art museum designed by
Diller Scofidio + Renfro architectural studios will be located in central Los Angeles, on the same street as
Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall. The new museum is a three-storey building with a honeycomb facade that wraps around the entire building like an exoskeleton, creating a filter between the outdoor space and the galleries inside.
Daylight penetrates the cellular structure to light up the exhibition gallery on the top floor, a large space with no visible vertical structures which can also house the large contemporary artworks included in the 2000 item Broad collection.
