Rovereto is becoming more and more important as a centre for contemporary art in Italy, an essential place on any art itinerary. In addition to Mart, the city has now reopened the Galleria Civica di Trento, a project designed by young architect Stefano Grigoletto of Studio Atelier Zero.

MART reopens the CIVICA

The annexation of the Galleria Civica di Trento to Mart expands the contemporary art museum centre in Trentino. The historic gallery will resume its exhibitions and become a third location for Mart, interacting with the Museum and the Casa d’Arte Futurista Depero in Rovereto.

The Galleria Civica project pursues the goal of establishing constructive dialogue with the town, its people and visitors, confirming the city’s international, cosmopolitan vocation.
Exhibitions will be seasonal and based on specific themes ranging from projects focusing on the 19th and 20th centuries to the present day, investigating the vocabulary of art and architecture.

The museographic adaptation project is by Stefano Grigoletto of Studio Atelier Zero, selected through a competition for architects under 35 in Trentino which confirmed the centre’s vocation for focusing on the work of the young.
