Ludovico Quaroni exhibition, MAXXI Roma
The exhibition now open at MAXXI in Rome, "Ludovico Quaroni. Drawings and Sketches for San Giuliano alle Barene in Mestre" concludes the calendar of initiatives promoted by the Adriano Olivetti foundation, MAXXI and the National Institute of Urban Planning, for 2011, the centennial of the birth of Italian architect Ludovico Quaroni.

Exhibition curators Patrizia Bonifazio and Pippo Ciorra selected drawings and sketches which, along with the original model of the project for the San Giuliano alle Barene district in Mestre, provide the visitor with an overview of the work of Ludovico Quaroni.

The San Giuliano alle Barene project, which was never implemented, offers a significant example of the architect?s method representing an important milestone in the period of history in which it was produced, when the urgency of post-war reconstruction gave way to the optimism of planning a major urban project in one of Italy?s most delicate locations, the Venetian lagoon.
