The new home designed by H ARQUITECTES in Barcelona is a grey cube made up of weight-bearing cement blocks.

H ARQUITECTES, private house 804
H ARQUITECTES of Barcelona have designed a house which is almost a perfect cube, a compact building with only a few well-designed openings.

The volume fits into a large lot with a garden, a swimming pool and a shed, already in existence. The architects designed the exteriors, and particularly the paved area entirely surrounding the architectural volume, establishing links between residential functions and outdoor facilities. To the south, for example, the kitchen has a direct link with the garden, while a big patio on the northern side connects the home with a second garden at a higher level and the swimming pool.

The structure of the construction is made with weight-bearing walls made of cement blocks which are also visible inside the main rooms. The same blocks are used in the walls around the house and in external elements such as fences, pathways and benches.
