Great Land Studio Corte wins Maxxi YAP Rome

Starting at the end of June the installation designed by Corte of Rome will be visible in the square in front of Maxxi.
The Roman studio won the Maxxi YAP 2015 competition, held by the museum designed by Zaha Hadid in partnership with MoMA/MoMA PS1 in New York, Constructo in Santiago, Chile, the Istanbul Modern (Turkey) and MMCA National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul (Korea).
Great Land is the name of Studio Corte's project, which looks like a big lump of soil waiting to be explored and discovered. The studio’s project was selected by an international jury from a list of candidates including Studioerrante Architetture (Turin), T SPOON (Rome), Sara Gangemi (Mandello del Lario - LC) and Perky Pat Layouts (Milan).

The judges particularly appreciated the project’s abstraction and the quality of use of the cultural district, for Great Land combines conceptual architectural simplicity with the gentleness of a little landscape. The winner of the previous Maxxi YAP competition was Studio Orizzontale with the installation 8 ½.
