Berlin?s Buchmann Galerie is holding its third exhibition on Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, featuring a number of her silver paintings, three Dot Paintings and Iceberg, a mobile sculpture.
Iceberg, a mobile bench designed for Sawaya & Moroni, is an expression of the architect?s formal and sculptural research exploring the idea of liquid territories.
While everyone agrees that architecture could not exist without drawing, Patrik Schumacher, a senior partner in Zaha Hadid?s practice, emphasises that 2D design has accelerated the evolution of architecture, expressing spatial concepts and potential rather than physical representation.
It was a number of Zaha Hadid?s drawings and paintings from the early 1980s that initially brought her work to the world?s attention, even though they were not directly linked with her work in architecture.
