Brenac + Gonzalez CNFPT, Lille

Offices, Gallery, Sport & Wellness,

Its metallic facing confers a homogeneous aspect to the CNFPT (National Centre for Regional Public Service) in Lille, designed by the architectural studio Brenac & Gonzalez, and also cavorts with the exceptional brightness of the light in the north and the silvery grey colour of the sky.

 Brenac + Gonzalez CNFPT, Lille

The atelier d’architecture Brenac & Gonzalez et Associés (Xavier Gonzalez, Olivier Brenac, Jean-Pierre Lévêque and Emmanuel Person) designed the new CNFPT (National Centre for Regional Public Service) in Lille, a training and regional service centre which has now located all the different offices and meeting rooms, previously spread all over the city of Lille, in one place.
The new CNFPT has been built in a rapidly expanding area which is gearing to become the new city centre. Endorsing and transmitting a modern image of the public services, designing a building in accordance with sustainable, ecological and functioning economical criteria are a few of the fundamental principals of the project.
The building extends along a stretch of land with a variety of facade heights in an elongated shape. The metallic facing confers a sense of unison to the construction and changes according to weather conditions and the brightness of the sky. The impressive entrance is twice as high as the offices, an internal courtyard which creates a spacial continuation between the exterior and interior carrying on as a glass arcade. The arcade is the forum, or meeting place for the public, and effectively follows the whole length of the building continuously linked to the outdoors due to the transparency of the glass walls.
