Designscape, virtual event for the design world At a time when so many of our assumptions are disappearing into thin air, and no one really knows what awaits us in the coming weeks and months in response to the various waves of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, many events have switched from the real world to the virtual world.
One of these is Designscape, an initiative launched by the creative hive of leading UK events and exhibitions Decorex, designjunction, kbb Birmingham and Sleep & Eat. It aims to bring together those at the forefront of residential, hospitality & retail at a time when physical networking and deal-making is unfeasible. They’ve moved everything into that virtual world that has become our main window on the world in recent months.
The three-day programme of this diversified virtual event starts today, Tuesday 11 August and runs until 13 August. Each day will feature unrivalled, thought-leading programming and conversations across the whole global design world involving stakeholders in the residential, retail and hospitality sectors. At the same time, it also features real-time audience engagement from trailblazers in business and design to innovators in science and technology.
Designscape’s programme aims to inject you input to participants, looking beyond trends, instead digging deeper into how behavioural changes and outside influences are transforming the design landscape as we know it. The inaugural event looks to the future of design, combining virtual discussions, educational and topical symposiums in live and on-demand formats, global matchmaking and speed networking.
Designscape kicks off today, 11 August and focuses on retail. It will examine physical spaces becoming experience-driven, the intersection of retail and digital, with a headline discussion on the circular economy and the consumer of the future, and a look at the future of retail design.
12 August will be all about the residential world, delving into the new criteria and considerations governing the design of the home, not least of which also dictated by the pandemic, and on how behavioural and environmental factors are affecting our priorities with new ideas and styles gaining ground. The third and final day of 13 August will be all about hospitality, one of the hardest-hit industries by the effects of Covid-19. Here, the focus will be around the alignment of sustainability and safety, the impact of Artificial Intelligence on customer experiences, and future-proofing expansion and investment plans.
Designscape will also offer matchmaking and speed networking platforms allowing visitors to arrange their own video meetings across the three days; it’s all about forging virtual connections across the global design industry, an all-encompassing event for anyone who has an interest in the world of design.
