- Biennale Interieur, early previews
L'anno 2016 è una data particolare per la Biennale Interieur di Kortrijk. I 25 anni vanno festeggiati adeguatamente con la Silver Edition e in linea con l'anniversario sfoggia il motto “Silver Lining – Interiors”. To assure its success, architecture firm OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen teamed up with visual artist Richard Venlet and graphic designer Joris Kritis to broaden the horizons of the show and step into the world of interior presentations.
Central to INTERIORS - installations spread across the halls - is the idea that furniture and objects are not isolated items but are always part of the overall organised space. The showpiece of Biennale Interieur will no doubt be the Solo House project by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, together with Richard Venlet and Pieter Vermeersch.
This is the reinterpretation of a holiday house completed by the duo in a fine natural backdrop in Spain's Matarraña region. A self-sufficient building with solar panels that has a very small footprint, seeking to keep the balance of the landscape.
The same idea is also adopted for Solo House Interior. This is architecture made with machines alone, fragments to a scale of 1:1, where the equipment forms a ghost installation for a place where furniture, architecture and installation blend in a single setting with a wide variety of interpretations. Ambiguity driven further by the artistic work of Pieter Vermeersch and Richard Venlet with sustainable add-ins aimed at recovery and furniture designed by Muller Van Severen for the SOLO House.
Readers, here are some visual previews of this Silver Edition of the Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk that opens on 14 October and runs until 23 October 2016.
